It has now become a common question for every client who looks for internet marketing solutions in terms of ranking high in Google. The question is whether spending money on Google Adwords can help in ranking a website organically or we can say that Does AdWords Help with SEO? There is mix of responses from different experts.
Before moving to the answer to the question, let’s know something about Google Adwords and SEO in general.
What is Google Adwords and how does it work?
Google Adwords is a premium service of Google where you pay Google to appear above search results when a user types a particular keyword.
Let me show you with an example. Let’s type a particular keyword say “hotels in los angeles”.
You will get a number of results and on the top, you can see some Ads which are shown in the image in the red area. These ads are generated by setting up a campaign through Google Adwords.
The more you pay to Google against other advertisers for a particular keyword, the more preference you will get in search results and ultimately you will be placed higher in the search results.
Apart from paying more to Google there is another factor which decides the ad placement and that is the ad quality score. Google looks at how beneficial your ad is to the users and how relevant your landing page to your ad set. Quality score is awarded from a table of 10. 10 being the best and 0 being the least. The more the quality score and the more is the chances you will be placed higher among your competitors in same bid range.
What is SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and how does it work?
Search Engine Optimization is the process of optimizing your website according to search engines and making them user-friendly by good designing, awesome content and great look.
Apart from this google consider other 40 factors to rank a website on the top of search engine result pages(SERP’s).
One of the main factors is backlinks which means the number of websites linking back to your website.
In the process of SEO, you need not pay anything to Google to appear on the top. You just need to create a search engine friendly website with above factors and gain trust by getting links through other websites.
Note: The organic results or SEO results are placed below the Google Adwords results.
You can see the example of organic results in the above image which is present in the green box.
Now let’s move to the question, Does AdWords Help with SEO?
Both the Google Adwords and SEO are beneficial for a business to grow. They both work independently and investing money on Google Adwords does not affect the organic ranking of a website.
It may happen that you are getting good results by investing in Google Adwords but your organic ranking is not so good.
On the other hand, if you are ranking organically in search results then you could reduce money spent in Google Adwords. You can get traffic and leads directly through the organic visits on your website.
However, if your website is new and you have just started your SEO campaign, then you should invest in Google Adwords to get quick leads from the Ads in the search results by placing higher bids than your competitors.
