Absolutely Education. Creating an online platform for one of the UK's top independent education magazines
We worked with publisher Zest media to create an online platform for their Absolutely Education publication. The process involved designing a site that will work for the online publication and developing a complex private school search engine that makes it easy for parents to find and compare the best private schools local to them.
Goals
- Design a site for the Absolutely Education magazine
- Develop a school search function that can order and sort over 2000 schools based on location with an interactive map
- Import content for over 2000 schools from spreadsheets
- Guide Zest media staff on how to use the new system
What we did
- Developed a self-contained WordPress magazine-style site that reflects the look of the print version of Absolutely Education.
- Created a post-type based searchable map that is fully interactive with search and filters.
- Imported school content from a CSV file directly into the site and automatically created over 2000 school post-types with data mapped automatically.
- Created a school type-type and featured school function making it quick and easy to add new schools and control the content for featured schools.
Results
The Absolutely Education website was launched with great success. Absolutely Education now has a unique selling point with the school search function, this makes it easy and quick for parents to shortlist schools. We later went on to develop more functions for the featured school placements on the school search page, this opens up new ways to monetise the site.
