Central Sterilising Club. WordPress Paid Membership System Development
Our goal was to make the management of the Central Sterilising Club (CSC) easier, streamlined and more cost effective. We proposed an in-house membership system that would give CSC full control over their member’s payments and membership.

What we did
- Developed a self-contained WordPress & WooCommerce membership system
- Designed and developed a public and members website within a WordPress multisite
- Migrated all existing members from the previous membership system and imported into the new membership system without the member’s being disrupted
- Setup various email automation to retain members and encourage legacy members to switch to card payments
- Constructed a scalable and fast private server configuration for CSC using a native NGINX system
Results
The new Central Sterilising Club website was launched in May with great success. All existing members were migrated without disruption and renewal dates were synced. Many members who previously didn’t pay online switched to online payments which greatly reduces the number of admin hours for CSC.
A public and membership website was developed. The membership website has many new features for members such as group discussions, organisation forums, private document downloads and much more. Members can easily control their membership and payment details from their dashboard.

An in-house system would also allow CSC to utilise Stripe for card payments, with no 3rd party to reply on they now save over 2% per transaction compared to the PaySubs Online system.
Lakewood built a WordPress and WooCommerce based system that allows members to manage their membership and also gives them access to the CSC members site which contains a forum, private documents, group discussion and more. The existing membership system was powered by PaySubs Online, we migrated all the members from this system and seamlessly added them to the new CSC membership system. The new system removed a lot of administration by automating most tasks such as renewal reminders, invoice generation and more.
The new Central Sterilising Club website was based on a WordPress Multisite, this allowed us to separate the membership and public site while still using a single user database. Users can log in on either the public or members site and automatically get redirected to their dashboard on the member’s site.
The CSC members site is only accessible to members. Automatic protection ensures that when a membership expires and isn’t renewed the member will not have access to the core functions such as the forum, documents and groups. We used BBPress and BuddyPress to create a rich members environment with discussion areas and even the option for companies to have private groups and forums for employees.
A scalable hosting environment was built specifically for CSC, with vertical scaling available on demand. An Intel-based server setup was opted for with native NGINX with FastCGI cache this offers incredible performance.
